Human Capital - Case Studies
Business Issue: Our client was not able to bring new products to market quickly or effectively. In some cases, expertise existed in the company but was not shared, leading to slow and costly development and frequent duplication. In other cases, the company relied on outside contractors to implement special projects, resulting in high expense and contractors who were more expert than the company's own employees in the nuts and bolts of the initiatives.
Solution: We created a query-able database showing each employee, the skills each has, and their level of proficiency in every skill. Our client used this information to leverage in-house expertise, substantially reducing costs and increasing speed-to-market. In addition, the company offered targeted training to individuals who had skill deficiencies, enabling the company to rapidly recognize revenue from new initiatives.
Business Issue: Management sought to better leverage the capabilities of key employees while increasing retention in a competitive job market.
Solution: We interviewed each key employee to understand their needs and abilities. We developed career and training plans for each individual, as well as for the group as a whole. We worked with management to assign each person to task forces that addressed new initiatives critical to the company's long-term success. The overall effort demonstrated the company's commitment to these key employees, giving them the career paths and training they desired, enhancing retention. At the same time, the client deployed its existing resources in new ways to address critical needs, without increasing staff. This effort resulted in an ongoing transformation that significantly increased corporate revenue.
